About Jessica:

Hi! My name is Jessica!

I was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan and moved to Vancouver, Canada at the age of 10 with my parents. After graduating high school, I moved back to the other side of the world to attend university in Tokyo. I am now a second year graduate student at the University of Southern California’s Marriage and Family Therapy program, which makes Los Angeles the fourth city I have called home.

As a first-generation immigrant, I have personally experienced the challenges of adapting to a new culture, learning a new language, and navigating the complexities of fitting in. I understand how these experiences can evoke emotions like confusion, isolation, anxiety, and more. Being caught between two worlds, I too have felt torn and out of balance. I have also witnessed how language barriers and acculturation levels can impact relationships with family members and hinder the formation of deep connections one may desire. Through my own journey of searching for a therapist and navigating the world as an Asian immigrant, I have learned firsthand the importance of mental health support and the transformative power of therapy. Knowing the challenges and experiences I had are not unique to me but are shared by many Asian Americans, Asians, and folks from other multicultural communities, I have become deeply inspired and committed to provide healing, growth, and support while challenging the stigma of mental health in our communities.

My past involvement in working with children on the autism spectrum and providing support for their families has also informed my dedication to serving Asian American, Asian, and multicultural communities. With experiences gained in Taiwan and Canada, where I worked primarily with immigrant families, I have witnessed the pressing need for accessible and culturally attuned services. These encounters have motivated me to bridge this gap and make a tangible impact. By offering guidance and support to individuals and families navigating the complex journey of immigrating to a new country, I aim to create meaningful changes and help improve access to services for all. It is my heartfelt desire not only to help but also to contribute and strengthen the very community that has shaped me into the person I am today.

I strongly believe that every person has the natural ability to grow and heal. My approach centers around helping clients discover their inner strengths by connecting with their authentic selves. It is my priority to provide a nurturing and safe environment for self-exploration and empowerment through navigating one’s thoughts, emotions, and experiences to discover one’s inner balance. We will collaborate with each other to identify your challenges, goals, and unique strengths, conquer obstacles to develop a deeper connection with yourself and those around you, and work towards accomplishing the aspirations you hold for your life.

During my free time, I enjoy people-watching at local cafes, immersing myself in nature to disconnect from the busyness of daily life, and discovering new music and fashion trends from the comfort of my bed.

If you would be interested in working with me, please reach out to our Care Coordinator team for assistance with next steps. I am honored to be a part of your journey and look forward to meeting you!
