About Miaoyin (Kathryn):

Hello! My Name is Kathryn. Thank you for visiting my profile. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in social work from University of Southern California, and I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology and economics from New York University. Coming to the states from China as an immigrant and my personal experience with anxiety and depression have made me understand the hardships of navigating different cultures with language barriers and dealing with the stigma against mental health intergenerationally. I deeply understand how they can affect daily life, interpersonal relationships, and even mental and physical health. Through psychotherapy, I aim to create a safe, inclusive, and equitable space where you can feel empowered, confident, supported, and respected.

My aspiration to pursue a career as a clinical social worker with a focus on providing mental health services to Asian, Asian American, and multicultural communities is deeply rooted in my background and experiences. Accompanying a family member through cancer survival helped me understand the value of self-compassion and vulnerability. I want to provide a safe space for those who need support through grief and hardship.

In our therapy sessions, my goal is to offer you a supportive environment filled with compassion, openness, and empathy where you can feel truly understood and valued just as you are. I’m here to walk alongside you, celebrating and recognizing every step you take on your journey. Together, we’ll create a collaborative space where you can grow and move forward at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
