About Michelle:
Hello! My name is Michelle. It’s nice to meet you!
I grew up in Vancouver, Canada, before moving to Los Angeles to complete my undergraduate degree at the University of Southern California. Currently, I am a second-year graduate student at Columbia University’s Master’s of Social Work program. My experience having lived in such diverse areas with growing Asian communities has shaped my passion for integrating culture and identity into my therapeutic work. Although the challenges that come with navigating mental health as an Asian American are shared, they can often feel invisible and marginal. Learning how to prioritize my mental health in a way that feels authentic to my lived experience as a first-generation Chinese American has been transformative to my healing.
As your therapist, I aim to hold space for you to be an imperfect individual and to welcome any unwanted feelings to be heard without judgment. I hope that our time together can be an opportunity to practice self-compassion and to heal from a lens of affirming your strengths. I believe therapy provides you with the space to understand yourself better, to honor the experiences that have led you to where you are now, and to discover new perspectives that will serve you moving forward. I want our sessions to be a place where you feel empowered to drive your own change and know that you are supported every step of the way, even when it gets hard.
I understand how challenging it can be to put yourself out there, so I want to say I’m incredibly proud of you for taking these first steps. If you’re interested in working with me, please reach out to our Care Coordinator team to schedule an appointment. I look forward to starting our collaborative journey together!
