About Rachel:
Hello, I’m glad you’re here!
My name is Rachel, and I’m a first-generation Filipino-Chinese American from Arlington, Texas. Having grown up around very few people who looked like me, I struggled to feel connected to my Asian heritage and to find a therapist who shared my culture and experiences. When I attended college in Los Angeles, I felt part of a cultural community; I felt seen and heard by my Asian American therapist and was inspired to serve as a peer counselor to support young Asian Americans’ mental health. These experiences helped me undergo a journey of cultural exploration, self-discovery, and identity formation– all of which have boosted my sense of belonging and mental well-being.
During the past few years working as a Crisis Text Line Counselor and 7 Cups Listener, I have fostered my passion for helping others feel heard, supported, and validated. Additionally, as a social work student, I am dedicated to taking a person-in-environment approach and engaging in anti-oppressive practices. My goal is to combine my love for my culture with my love for helping others, and I am excited to do so as a Clinical Social Worker Intern at Entwine Community.
I am an advocate for culturally-responsive and client-centered mental healthcare for everyone. In our sessions, I seek to cultivate a safe space that is free of judgment, brings your voice to the forefront, and fosters shared understanding. We will work together to develop a collaborative partnership that is centered around your unique culture, circumstances, values, and goals. We will explore how your environment impacts your experiences and well-being, and use this knowledge to develop personalized therapeutic goals. Overall, I hope to help you connect with your strengths and self-confidence, while empowering you to take practical steps towards growth and healing.
Seeking help takes great courage, vulnerability, and trust, and I am here to listen compassionately and support you in working towards your goals. To schedule an appointment, please reach out to our Care Coordinator team. I am eager to support you in your mental wellness journey!
