About Shawnia:

I decided to enter the mental health field because of my observations and experience with navigating mental health as a first-generation Vietnamese American. When I was growing up, I observed members of my community struggling to seek help or overcome the stigmas of mental illness. In my life, I have also battled with self-doubt, stress, and anxiety and compared my success to the sacrifices that my parents had made to immigrate to the U.S. The challenges and pressure experienced by many children of immigrants can be difficult to face alone. Together, I will help you process the thoughts and emotions behind your experiences.

I am committed to addressing and reducing the stigmas of mental health, especially in underserved communities. I am passionate about helping teens and adults who are struggling with multicultural identities, intergenerational trauma, and/or interpersonal conflicts. I strive to provide a safe, non-judgemental, and culturally sensitive space where you feel heard and supported. It would be an honor to be a part of your journey. I know that reaching out for help can feel intimidating, and I applaud you for thinking about taking this step.
