About Wendy:

Therapy can feel like an uncertain step, but it can also be the start of realizing you don’t have to carry everything on your own. Whether this is your first time seeking therapy or you’re searching for the right fit, we can work together to nurture growth, healing, and transformation. You may feel stuck, unsure of where to begin, or unable to see a way forward. In our work together, I offer a space where every feeling and emotion is valued and sacred. My role is to help you feel truly seen, heard, and understood, while encouraging you to explore new possibilities, open up to different perspectives, and discover new ways of experiencing life.

My approach to therapy is person-centered, offering empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard—qualities that may feel new to you, but that you may have long needed growing up. I draw from attachment theory to help you reflect on how early experiences shaped your sense of trust, safety, and security, and I approach our work through a cultural lens, exploring how cultural norms, values, and backgrounds shape your belief systems, priorities, and attitudes toward yourself, others, and the world. Together, we may also explore themes of identity, cultural dissonance, generational conflict, parental expectations, childhood parentification, and relational or familial challenges rooted in intergenerational trauma. Above all, I value a collaborative relationship: I encourage you to take the lead, while I serve as a supporting character in your heroic journey toward self-discovery, change, and transformation.

Growing up as a 1.5-generation Chinese immigrant, I have first-hand experience with many of the challenges children of immigrant families face. My own path toward counseling began with navigating cultural norms, family obligations, and gender-specific expectations within a conservative household. Through my recovery, I discovered both a passion for supporting others with similar experiences and a strength in helping people find hope, courage, and resilience in the face of life’s most searing trials. I believe deeply in the resilience of the human spirit and the capacity each of us has to heal when given the right support.

My professional journey has centered on community mental health. I have facilitated support groups, provided one-on-one emotional support, and engaged in advocacy and outreach, with a particular focus on Asian American communities. Prior to my training as a therapist, I served as a Bilingual Mental Health Promoter with the Los Angeles Department of Mental Health, offering psychoeducation in the San Gabriel Valley, and I continue to contribute to the Mental Health Association for Chinese Communities (MHACC) through program development and community partnerships. Beyond my professional work, my role as a caregiver for my younger brother, who is on the autism spectrum, has deepened my compassion for the neurodivergent and disabled community. Outside of counseling and caregiving, I enjoy spending time with friends, exploring new places, learning new skills, and finding lighthearted humor in everyday life.
